POWER OF WORDS

THE POWER OF WORDS....

====================================

Words are required in speech, in writing and in Songs.

The power of words means to choose words carefully and to use them correctly.

There is a children's rhyme which goes,

"Sticks and Stones may break my bones,

But words can never hurt me...."

Perhaps as a child, the vocabulary is not as vast and the ideas of consequences can be great. For my actual work which is a purchaser. A simple word Such as "OK" can have vast consequences.

For instance, if i stated "OK" to a vendor, the vendor may have the indication that i am agreeing to his quotation and purchase the item from him.

Another instance if i stated "OK", to a user(person who uses the items which i purchase) he may take it that i would be able to meet his requirements and delivery date.

A third instances for "OK", to my Boss, he may understand that i may be able to meet his deadlines.....

These are instances where words come with consequences and power.

Selection of words are also very important... for instance, if you hear the following. "These are problems which require fixing everyday." or you hear, "These are possibilities which can be explored everyday." the Latter gives a more positive tone and of more optimism..... more initiative to the boss as a goal getter.

As my work as a tarot reader, the choice of words are doubly important and much tact is required. I may not have undergone any consoling courses or lectures, however, the clients whom i meet have very serious emotional and critical issues when they find me.....

If i chose a wrong word to state in the reading, it may prove diasterous.....

For instance, there was a client who met me concerning her having an affair with a married man. Based on the moral asian views, most people would condemm her.... However in the modern society and in dealing with this case, i needed to be more tactful and highlight all possibilities to her. Such as the positive points on the relationship and the goals in which she would want in such a relationship.

When one uses the tarot the truth is important. Hence personal opinions and bias are to be taken away. However one must be kind and read the feelings of the querant. I temper my words with kindness. i had a client whom saw me at 11 pm at nite because her fiancee called off the engagement on her birthday. Though the card gave a very sharp answer. I took the edges off the sharpness......

Many people say "NO" to a lot of matter. Such as when requested to try a new food, sport or watch an alternative movies.

In Jim carrey's Yesman, Yes is empowering......
I end here with the quote below.....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics; and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived . . this is to have succeeded.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
